It is corrosion-resistant and has a long service life. In coastal areas of our country, the groundwater level is high and the land humidity is large. However, PE pipes can resist the erosion of various chemical media and do not require anti-corrosion treatment. In addition, they do not promote the growth of algae, bacteria or fungi, and have a service life of up to 100 years.

Plastic pipes belong to flexible pipes. When subjected to external pressure loads, the load-bearing mechanisms of flexible pipes and rigid pipes are completely different. Before the flexible pipe is damaged by pressure, it can have a larger deformation, while the rigid pipe cannot have a large deformation before being damaged by external pressure. When the rigid pipe is under external pressure, the load is completely transmitted to the bottom pipe bed through the pipe wall, and a bending moment is generated in the pipe wall. As the pipe diameter increases, the bending moment and stress in the pipe wall increase sharply. Therefore, large-diameter concrete drainage pipes often require reinforcing bars. However, the flexible pipe deforms first - expands horizontally before being damaged - and the surrounding backfill soil can play a role in preventing the deformation and expansion of the flexible pipe. The external pressure load is then transmitted and distributed to the surrounding backfill soil. Therefore, in the same external pressure load, the stress in the wall of the flexible pipe is smaller. It and the surrounding backfill soil jointly bear the load, and the pipe and soil act together. Thus, plastic buried drainage pipes do not need the same strength and rigidity as rigid concrete pipes. Under reasonable rigidity, they can fully meet the usage requirements, which has been confirmed by the advanced application practices in Europe.
